Jharkhand elections: Why JMM second-largest leader Champai Soren ranks 27th in BJP?

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren

Former Chief Minister Champai Soren’s name is in the headlines in the list of star BJP campaigners in Jharkhand. Champai is the second leader of JMM and ranks 27th in the BJP list. The BJP has ranked six leaders from Jharkhand above Champai. Interestingly, Champai’s list of star campaigners at No. 27 was only for Kolhan’s promotion. Kolhan is considered to be the stronghold of Champai Soren. Champai is also known as Tiger in Kolhan politics.

After Champai’s name came up at No. 27, the question arises, is the BJP trying to distance itself from the previous CM or trying to send a message by leaving Champai behind?

Champai The name of the leader above

The BJP takes the above names very seriously. Among them are six leaders from Jharkhand. Above Champai, include the names of former CM Babu Lal Marandi, former CM Arjun Munda, Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri, Union Minister Annapurna Devi, Union Minister Sanjay Seth and former MP Ravindra Rai.

No former chief minister has a lower name than Champai. Currently, four former chief ministers are politically active in the BJP. These include the names of Champai Soren, Arjun Munda, Babu Lal Marandi and Madhu Koda.

All leaders with names below Champai are considered second-tier leaders of the BJP in Jharkhand.

Champai also disappeared from the poster

Before the elections, Champai Soren also disappeared from BJP posters. The poster released by the BJP regarding Parivartan had only pictures of Amar Kumar Bhouri, Babu Lal Marandi and Arjun Munda.

Even in terms of ticket releases, Champai doesn’t get much attention. The BJP high command is said to have accepted Champailhi’s preference for only three of the 14 seats in Kolhan.

Even in Santhal and elsewhere, Champai could not get tickets for his people. Shibu Soren’s daughter-in-law Sita Soren was also with Champai, but she did not get the seat of her choice. The BJP sent Sita to Jamtala.

Is there a competition in Champai?

When Champaj joined the BJP, senior leaders of the party welcomed him with music. The BJP claimed to break Champai and play in Kolhan but now the party seems to be getting rid of Champai.

Champai has proven to be more of a burden than an asset for the BJP. In fact, when Champai came, the BJP hoped that the JMM would also bring in some big leaders by breaking up the former chief minister.

However, this was not possible due to the active actions of Hemant Soren. Not even a big JMM leader joined the BJP with Champai. In Kolhan, on the contrary, a big rift has emerged within the BJP due to Champai.

Ganesh Mahali, Laxman Tudu, Basco Besra, Bari Murmu, Kunal Shadangi of the BJP have joined the JMM. Hemant even fielded Ganesh Mahali against Champai.

It is said that after experiencing so many setbacks, the BJP is no longer in the mood to take Champai seriously. The party fears that its core voters may also be dispersed in Kolhan due to Champai.

BJP reduced to zero in Kolhan

In the 2019 parliamentary elections, the Indian Union Party won 13 of the 14 seats in Kulhan. Independent party Saryu Rai won a seat in Jamshedpur East district. The BJP lost all 14 seats in Kolhan belt.

Raghubar Das, the party’s chief ministerial candidate from Kolkhan, also lost the election. This time the BJP has a strong fielding in Kolkhan. The party has formed an alliance with JDU and AJSU. At the same time, veterans have also stepped up to the plate.

This time in Kolhan, tickets have been distributed to the families of Arjun Munda, Raghubar Das and Madhu Koda. Likewise, Champai and his sons are contesting elections on the BJP symbol in the district.
