Jay Shah on New NCA: Recently the Paris Olympics 2024 has concluded. This time a team of 117 athletes participated from India, out of which the country got only 1 silver and 5 bronze medals. But now Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jai Shah has made a big announcement.

He has told that soon a new National Cricket Academy (NCA) will be ready, in which along with cricketers, other athletes including javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will also be able to practice. They will be provided with modern facilities.

New NCA will be inaugurated next month

Jay Shah said that BCCI is always ahead to support Indian athletes. BCCI secretary told TOI, ‘We are going to make it available for Olympic players like Neeraj Chopra also.’

Let us tell you that National Cricket Academy (NCA) is located in Bengaluru. The new NCA is also almost ready in this city. It will be inaugurated next month. High Performance Center has been one of the biggest projects of BCCI.

Recently Jai Shah met Neeraj Chopra. Then the BCCI Secretary had told double Olympic medalist Neeraj that state-of-the-art facilities would be provided for non-cricketers also. Now Jay Shah has fulfilled his promise and is soon going to open a new NCA for the athletes. It has modern facilities for cricketers.

What is special about this new NCA?

The facility will have three fields and 100 pitches, including 45 indoor turf. Its specialty is that it has all types of pitches, like those seen in Brisbane’s Gabba, Durban’s Kingsmead or any other stadium in the world. The Indian team can practice on those pitches before going on a foreign tour.

Jai Shah said that whatever we got, we wanted to make the best use of it. BCCI Secretary said, ‘I took charge in October 2019, when due to Corona, a lot of time was spent in conducting IPL. The office remained closed for 2 years. When we got the second term (in 2022), we decided to take this project forward. We are happy that the foundation of this project was laid during my first term.
