Jasprit Bumrah created an important record in this match. By taking 3 wickets, Bumrah completed 400 wickets in his international career. He became the sixth Indian fast bowler to achieve this honour. Before him, Kapil Dev 687 wickets (448 innings), Javagal Srinath 551 wickets (348 innings), Zaheer Khan 597 wickets (373 innings), Mohammed Shami 448 wickets (245 innings) and Ishant Sharma 434 wickets (280 innings) had achieved this feat.

In this Test, Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first. Bangladesh bowlers initially gave India a jolt but a great partnership between Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja put India in a good position. India scored 376 runs in the first innings with Ashwin scoring a century. Jadeja and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored half centuries in their innings. The most successful bowler for Bangladesh was Hasan Mahmood who took 5 wickets. India is now batting in the second innings and the score for three wickets on the second day at stumps is 81 runs. India’s overall lead is 308 runs.
