The Chief Electoral Office (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir recently organized a vibrant Nukkad Natak (street play) at the Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government PG College for Women in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. This event, held on September 2, 2024, was part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative aimed at promoting electoral awareness among students.

The primary goal of the Nukkad Natak was to engage young voters and encourage them to participate actively in the upcoming assembly elections. Through dramatization, the event highlighted the importance of voting, the electoral process, and the significance of informed decision-making. The performance aimed to resonate with the audience, particularly the college students, by addressing common misconceptions about voting and emphasizing civic responsibilities.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty alike, creating an interactive atmosphere that fostered discussions around electoral participation. The street play format allowed for a dynamic exchange of ideas, making the message more relatable and impactful.

The CEO’s initiative reflects a commitment to enhancing voter education and engagement, particularly among the youth. By utilizing creative methods like Nukkad Natak, the program aims to cultivate a culture of active citizenship and ensure that young voters are well-informed and motivated to exercise their democratic rights during the election.
