Voting for the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly begins today. In this phase, polling will be held in 26 assembly seats in 6 constituencies, 3 in Jammu district and 3 in the Valley region. Notable candidates in this phase include former chief minister Omar Abdullah, JKPCC chief Tariq Hamid Kalla and BJP Jammu and Kashmir chief Ravindra Raina.
Some 2.5 million voters will decide the fate of 239 candidates in the second phase of the election. The Election Commission has set up 3,502 polling stations for the convenience of voters, of which 1,056 are located in cities and 2,446 in rural areas.
