PDP MLA Waheed paragraph.
The Income Tax department has issued a notice to senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Jammu and Kashmir MLA Waheed Para seeking information about his accounts. Officials said Parra was issued a notice to appear before the income tax department on December 20, but he received the information on the same day. As per this notification, Parra will have to provide information relevant to the Income Tax Department, which may be related to his financial documents and account details.
The notice was issued under Section 131(1A) of the Income Tax Act, which empowers income tax officials to seek information from tax defaulters without any formal procedure. There has been no response from Parra, but close aides said representatives would appear at the department’s offices on Monday.
This information is given in the election fees
Waheed Para is the People’s Democratic Party MP from Pulwama in south Kashmir. He provided information on election expenses during the parliamentary elections. According to his campaign affidavit, Parra spent more than 14 lakh rupees on the campaign, mostly in the form of loans, gifts and donations from individuals, firms, companies and associations.
Net worth Rs 25 million
Apart from this, Pala also provided information about his assets, which include a total assets of Rs 25 million, which also includes agricultural land worth Rs 20 million that he inherited. Parra’s political career has been marked by controversy. Pala was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on November 25, 2020, when he was preparing to file his nomination for the Pulwama District Development Council elections.
A new round of legal disputes arises
After two years in jail, he was released on bail in January 2021, but after his release, the Counter-Intelligence (Kashmir) Wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested him again. The notice issued by the income tax department comes amid several legal proceedings against Pala. While the notification may also be part of normal procedures, it could trigger a new round of political and legal disputes.
