Jammu and Kashmir Government Appoints Nodal Officer for 2024 Legislative Assembly Elections

The Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Jatinder Singh Johar as the Nodal Officer for furnishing reports regarding grievances received from the Election Commission of India (ECI) during the upcoming elections to the J&K Legislative Assembly.

Jatinder Singh Johar Appointed as Nodal Officer

According to an order issued by Principal Secretary, Home, Chandraker Bharti, the decision to appoint Jatinder Singh Johar, IPS, AIG (Crime & Complaints) at Police Headquarters (PHQ), J&K, as the Nodal Officer was made based on consultations with PHQ in a coordination meeting held in the Home Department on September 2, 2024.

The order states, “sanction is hereby accorded to the appointment of Jatinder Singh Johar, IPS, AIG (Crime & Complaints) PHQ, J&K as Nodal Officer, for coordinating and furnishing of reports in respect of grievances received from Election Commission of India, during the General Elections to Legislative Assembly in the UT of J&K, 2024.”

Responsibilities of the Nodal Officer

As the Nodal Officer, Jatinder Singh Johar will be responsible for coordinating and furnishing reports related to grievances received from the ECI during the upcoming J&K Legislative Assembly elections.

The appointment of the Nodal Officer is a crucial step in ensuring smooth and efficient handling of any grievances or issues that may arise during the electoral process in Jammu and Kashmir.
