External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said disputes and differences should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy and, once reached, should be “honestly respected”. He said this at the BRICS Outreach Conference in Kazan, Russia.
Jaishankar said, We met under difficult circumstances. The world must be prepared to rethink long-standing challenges. The message from our meeting is that we are indeed ready to do this. In his speech, he reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s view that this is not an era of war.
The Foreign Minister said that effective resolution of conflicts and tensions is a special need of the times. Prime Minister Modi also emphasized that this is not an era of war. Disputes and differences should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
Jaishankar said at a BRICS outreach meeting that international law should be followed without exception. A zero-tolerance policy should be adopted against terrorism. He also said that the situation in West Asia is worrying and needs to be understood. The concern is that if this is not taken into account, the conflict will spread further in the region.
The Outreach/BRICS+ meeting held in Kazan, Russia, on the last day of the BRICS Summit was hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin. United Nations Secretary-General Guterres, more than 20 world leaders and more than 30 delegations participated in this session.
