Nevertheless, he has criticized 20 percent of his duties on exports from the European Union as “wrong”, which he later suspended for 90 days.

Since Trump’s business began with war, Meloni has urged Brussels not to vengean, who is calling himself for a quiet head, castinging himself as a leader of the European Union to potentially de-size the struggle through his personal relationship with the US President.

His meeting with Trump in the White House does not come without risk, though.

Italian newspapers on Wednesday highlighted the possibility that Meloni could end in a trap similar to the White House meeting in February, in which Trump and his vice -president JD Vance along with Ukrainian leader Volodimir Zelanski surrounded their guests in front of reporters.

Meloni has been a staunch associate of Ukraine and Zelanski since the invasion of Russia in 2022, recently calls Moscow’s palm Sunday attack to “terrible and wiley” on Sumi city.

A French government spokesperson later said, however, all voices that help encourage interaction with the United States were welcome.

A European Commission spokesperson had a similar line on Monday, given that the European Union can interact on trade agreements alone, Meloni is “welcome outreach”.
