Bihar govt organizes National Press Day seminar in Patna
Today, the country celebrates National Press Day. On the occasion, Maheshwar Hazari, Minister for Information and Public Relations, Government of Bihar, while addressing a seminar in Patna, described media freedom as the soul of democracy. He said that we respect the freedom, responsibility and power of the press. Indian democracy is incomplete without the fourth pillar, which is press and media. He said that National News Day is not only a festival, but also an opportunity.
Minister Maheshwar Hazari said journalism in Bihar has a rich history. Bihar is the birthplace of journalists and editors who played a leading role in the freedom struggle. We journalists in Bihar have always valued the voices of the weaker sections of society.
Government’s role in protecting journalists
On the occasion, the minister also discussed the role and achievements of the state government in empowering the media. He said the Bihar government has taken many concrete steps to protect the interests of journalists in the state. Considering the safety of journalists, a journalist welfare scheme was launched to provide social and economic security to journalists and their families. In view of the spread of digital media in the state, the Bihar government has established excellent journalism and media studies institutes in many districts where young people learn new skills in journalism.
Journalists in every village empowered
He said that to strengthen journalism in rural and urban areas, information was being disseminated on a large scale through the Information and Public Relations Department. The media has been very successful in communicating government policies, programs and achievements to the remote villages of Bihar. To this end, the country has increased the use of local languages ​​and digital media to allow accurate and effective information to reach all links.
Minister Maheshwar Hazari said that the efforts of the Bihar government in the field of education were also communicated to the people through the media and increased awareness about education in the state. The media has played a major role in the success of the government’s ambitious plans such as the seven decisions and projects such as providing piped water to every household, puka roads, etc. Journalists make these plans public, so transparency is maintained and people remain informed.
