Emphasizing the importance of freedom and independence, Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud on Thursday said recent incidents in Bangladesh remind us to discharge our rights and duties. CJI Chandrachud said, “What is happening in Bangladesh today shows how precious freedom is to us. It is very easy to take freedom and independence for granted, but it is important to understand the stories of the past to remind us that How important these things are.” This comment of CJI comes after two weeks of violent unrest in Bangladesh. The widespread incidents of attacks on the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh following the resignation and flight of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5 have raised concerns in India.

Highlighting the significance of Independence Day, the CJI said, “On this day we honor our commitment to realize the dreams of all those who laid down their lives for this country and who lived to make it great. ” He said, “Every beating heart in India, irrespective of their age or stature, when we see our majestic flag fluttering in the wind of freedom on Independence Day, feels a deep emotional feeling of patriotism and gratitude towards our freedom fighters Filled with emotion.”

Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal was also present on this occasion. He said that the Constitution is supreme and it should be assimilated by the legislature, executive and judiciary so that India can become a developed nation.

Supreme Court Bar Association President and senior lawyer Kapil Sibal also emphasized on the importance of independence on this occasion. He said, “On August 15, Jawaharlal Nehru had said that I am the first servant of the people of India. This is the spirit in which we want to maintain our independence.
