India continues to gain a reputation in the field of space science. The Indian space agency Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has set several records so far. Now, ISRO will add one more achievement to its name. ISRO will launch PROBA-3 mission on Wednesday. ISRO says to join us for live broadcast of PSLV-C59 rocket/ROBA-3 mission. NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of ISRO, is collaborating in this mission.
ISRO will launch the PROBA-3 mission from Sriharikota Space Center on December 4 at 4:08 pm. This is a mission of the European Space Agency (ESA). The PROBA-3 mission will study the Sun’s corona. According to ESA, the PROBA-3 mission will study the outermost and hottest layers of the Sun’s atmosphere. Let us tell you that ISRO has launched two detection missions. The first mission was PROBA-1 launched in 2001, and the second mission was PROBA-2 launched in 2009. ISRO was successful in both missions.
will be launched from a spaceship
The PROBA-3 mission will launch from two main spacecraft. The first one is Occulter, its weight is 200 kg. The second spacecraft is the Coronagraph, which weighs 340 kilograms. The two satellites will separate after launch. These will later be placed together to form a solar coronagraph. It will study the Sun’s corona in detail. Let us tell you that the outer atmosphere of the sun is called the corona.
What is the mission of PROBA-3?
The PROBA-3 mission is a collaborative project among several European countries. These countries include Spain, Poland, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland. The total cost of the mission is estimated at approximately 200 million euros. The Proba-3 mission will run for two years. What’s special about this mission is that through it, “precision formation flying” will be tested in space for the first time. In this case, both satellites will fly simultaneously. The satellites will continue to maintain the same fixed configuration.
