Israel has now stepped up its attacks on Hezbollah. Hezbollah is a fundamentalist group in Lebanon, but Israel considers it a terrorist organization. Since the war between Hamas and Israel broke out, Hezbollah has also been involved. Hezbollah has repeatedly targeted Israel and its army.

Israel launched two major attacks against Hezbollah in two days. On Tuesday, pagers were hit, killing nine people and injuring 4,000. Walkie-talkies, solar panels, fingerprint devices and radios also exploded on Wednesday.

Interestingly, the equipment that exploded was purchased by Hezbollah about five months ago. In general, Israel is now targeting those things whose use becomes critical. Experts call it “psychological warfare”. Israeli Army Chief of Staff Haji Halevy said that the lives of terrorists will become hellish and they will not even dare to eat or drink water.

What did the Lebanese Foreign Minister say?

Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Habib told CNN there was an atmosphere of fear following the pager attack.

“It is a scary moment, no doubt,” Habib said. “We are afraid of the coming war because we don’t want it.” He said there were sometimes small skirmishes on the border before, but now we are talking about the beginning of a war.

Iran, meanwhile, likened the attack to genocide, with Iranian President Peshmerga saying the incident showed Western countries and the United States were supporting Israel’s criminal and murderous behavior.

The United States claimed that it had no information about the attack. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken denied that the United States knew about the attack in advance. However, there are also reports that Israel has just told the United States that it will carry out a large-scale operation in Lebanon.

150 hospitals admitted patients

On Tuesday, a pager used by Hezbollah fighters to communicate exploded. Many videos have emerged of pagers exploding while people are walking on the street or shopping in markets. Such explosions have occurred across Lebanon.

Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad said more than 200 people were in serious condition in about 150 hospitals. He suffered serious injuries to his face, hands and abdomen.

Hezbollah blamed Israel for the attack. The Lebanese government also called on Israel to take responsibility. Hezbollah said it would respond appropriately to the attack.

However, Israel has not yet made any response to these attacks. He has neither denied nor accepted them. According to local media reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked ministers not to give media interviews.

Is this psychological warfare?

Experts see Israel’s attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon as “psychological warfare.”

Ralph Beidoun, a data analyst in Beirut, told Al Jazeera that Israel already knew the names and locations of those attacked.

Defense analyst Hamz Attar said Israel’s message to Hezbollah was clear, “We can do more damage to you than this.” Former British Army officer Chris Hunter also said Israel sent a clear message to every enemy that you could be the next target.

Chris Hunter said the Israeli message was clear: “We can attack anything. We can attack your communications network, we can attack anything on your body.” He said such a message was very effective.

How strong is Israel’s message?

Israel’s attack method clearly sends a very strong message. This will not only affect Hezbollah, but also other terrorist organizations. Experts believe that this shows the capability gap between Israel and Hezbollah.

“Whenever you want to wage war against a country that has the ability to manipulate and hack supply chains and so on, that’s where you have an imbalance,” Hadi Khoury, a Paris-based cybersecurity expert, told Al Jazeera.

In fact, from the news that has been reported so far, Israel has disrupted the supply chain. A few months ago, Hezbollah ordered 3,000 pagers from Taiwan’s Gold Apollo. Gold Apollo said that these pagers were made by Hungarian BAC. Reports say that these pagers fell into Israeli hands before they reached Hezbollah. The Israeli intelligence agency Mossad loaded these pagers with an explosive called PETN and sent them out. This means that these pagers were filled with explosives for up to five months.

Defense analyst Hamz Attar said Hezbollah will now have to think about its supply chain. He will have to think about how his supply chain was disrupted.

How do pager attacks work?

According to local time at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, pager attacks occurred in many places across Lebanon. According to reports, the pager made a “beep” sound in the afternoon and exploded a few seconds later.

It is understood that these pagers were loaded with PETN, a dangerous explosive. This explosive was placed next to the pager batteries. These pagers were detonated by the increase in battery temperature.

Hezbollah started using these pagers only a few months ago. That’s because it’s difficult to track pagers.
