Jerusalem: Israel continues to carry out heavy bombing of the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, Palestinian medical officials claimed that at least 30 people, mostly women and children, were killed in Israeli air strikes on Gaza. An attack in the Gaza Strip early Tuesday killed 10 people, including four children and two women, and an attack late Monday in the city of Beit Lahiya killed at least 20 people, medical officials said. The injured have been taken to the nearest hospital.

Hospital director Hussam Abu Safia said Israel attacked a building in the city of Beit Lahiya on Monday where many families were taking shelter. The list of dead announced by the Gaza Ministry of Health Emergency Services includes eight women and six children. There was no immediate response from the Israeli military.

Israel has been targeting northern Gaza for nearly a month, warning that Beit Lahiya, the nearby city of Beit Hunan and the urban Jabaliya refugee camp would be completely evacuated. Israel has allowed almost no humanitarian aid to arrive over the past month. (Associated Press)
