An Israeli citizen was kidnapped and murdered in the United Arab Emirates. Rabbi Zvi Kogan, the special envoy of Abu Dhabi-based Chabad, was kidnapped in downtown Dubai on Thursday afternoon. Then, on Sunday morning, Emirati authorities found Kogan’s body and notified his family. Currently, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu expresses sadness and anger over this incident. Netanyahu said Israel would take all possible actions to punish the defendants.

Security and intelligence agencies in many countries launched a campaign to identify Kogan. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement saying that information showed that the disappearance was related to terrorists. Cogan’s body was later discovered on Sunday.
Who is Rabbi Zvi Kogan?
The late Kogan was from Moldova. He worked for many years with Rabbi Levi Deutschman and other Chabad emissaries to build and expand Jewish life in the UAE. Kogan played an important role in establishing the first Jewish educational center in the Gulf countries. After getting married in 2022, Kogan’s wife Rivky also joined him.
What did Netanyahu say?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the entire incident. Benjamin Netanyahu said the murder took place in the United Arab Emirates. The murder of an Israeli citizen and Chabad emissary was a criminal act of anti-Semitic terror. Netanyahu said Israel will take all possible actions to bring the killers and their owners to justice. Netanyahu, however, praised the UAE’s cooperation in the murder investigation. We will strengthen our ties while confronting the “axis of evil” (Iran and its factions), he said.
