Israeli army launches major attack in Gaza, killing 6 people including 2 children

Deir al-Balah (Gaza Strip): On Saturday night, Israeli forces launched a massive attack on the Gaza Strip. The attack killed at least six people, including two children. Medical officials provided the information Sunday. The children’s mother and her siblings were injured in the attack in the Moisi area, according to Nasir Hospital. An Associated Press reporter saw the body at the hospital. There is a huge tent camp in the Moisi area that is home to thousands of displaced people.

Four people died in another attack in the southern city of Rafah, near the Egyptian border, according to hospital records. The Israeli military said it was not aware of an attack anywhere. Israel says it only targets militants and tries to avoid harming civilians, but its daily attacks in Gaza often kill women and children.

Houthi armed counterattack

In another development, a missile launched by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels triggered an airstrike alert in central Israel. The Israeli military said the missile was shot down before it entered Israeli territory. The former defense minister accused Israel of war crimes. Moshe Ya’alon, a former top Israeli general and former defense minister, has accused the government of ethnic cleansing in northern Gaza, where Israeli forces have been launching their latest campaign against Hamas since early October. Moshe Ya’alon served as defense minister in Benjamin Netanyahu’s government before resigning in 2016. He is a harsh critic of the Prime Minister. He said that the current far-right Israeli government is determined to occupy, annex and ethnically cleanse Gaza. (Associated Press)
