About nine years ago, in December 2015, an organization called the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) was established. 42 Muslim countries in Asia and Africa have successfully fought against terrorism. The organization is still active today. But now it seems that a new organization is about to be established, named “Islamic NATO” and “Muslim NATO”.
It is unclear how many countries are in the group. Will there be 42 countries like IMCTC? Or less. But it is estimated that 25 countries in Asia and Africa will be included. Now if we talk about the core members of this new group, it will include Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, UAE, Jordan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Malaysia.
The main partner countries that could support them could be Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya. In addition, these five countries can also join as associate members. These countries are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Brunei. 25 in total.
What is the main goal of this group?
These Muslim countries will jointly carry out anti-terrorism operations like NATO. With each other’s help, we will modernize our military. Defense partnerships and cooperation will be developed. Intelligence information will be shared. It will combat external difficulties for the internal stability of Muslim countries. They will be deleted. Will promote Islamic unity.
How does this organization impact India?
Tension will increase… Tensions between India and Muslim-majority countries are likely to rise due to the influence of the Islamic Nato. Especially Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Local balance… The organization could try to disrupt the local political, diplomatic and strategic balance in the Indian peninsula by helping Pakistan and Bangladesh. Terrorism will be encouraged.
Kashmir issue… An Islamic NATO could escalate the Kashmir dispute. There may be an attempt to put pressure on India. So the issue is in favor of Pakistan.
Safety hazard… The establishment of this organization will enhance the strength of Pakistan. As a result, border security could be problematic. The same problem may arise in Bangladesh.
Isolated India… If the strength of Islamic NATO increases, then India may become completely isolated in the Indian peninsula or South Asia.
