Taipei: The latest statement from Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense has heightened tensions around the world. He has said that China’s secret military task force seems to be planning to do something around Taiwan, but it is not clear whether it is a military exercise or something else. Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said on Tuesday it had spotted a dozen Chinese naval vessels and 47 military aircraft in the past 24 hours, but there was no gunfire like in previous military exercises. Defense officials told a news conference that the deployment this time would be much larger and more ships would be heading to other parts of the Pacific beyond Taiwan.
‘His message was very clear’
Lieutenant General Xie Risheng said the Chinese navy is building two walls, one around Taiwan and another outside the first island chain, which stretches south from Japan through Taiwan to the Philippines. “Their message is very clear: The Taiwan Strait is ours,” he said, referring to the waters between Taiwan and mainland China. China’s military is preparing for possible military exercises in response to Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te’s recent overseas visits, which include visits to Hawaii and Guam. Let us tell you that China claims Taiwan as part of it and is opposed to formal relations between Taiwan and other countries, especially the United States.
Every move in China is watched
Taiwan Prime Minister Lai Chi spoke by phone with U.S. congressional leaders in Guam last week. Let us tell you that like most countries in the world, the United States does not officially recognize Taiwan as a country, but it is the largest arms supplier to this country of 23 million people. China has not announced any military exercises so far, which is why Taiwanese officials are calling the ongoing activities training. We tell you that China has stated many times that even if there is a war, it will include Taiwan within its scope. In this context, the presence of China’s secretive military near Taiwan is a dangerous sign.
