The New York Times report quoted three Iranian officials as saying that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has ordered the Iranian army to attack Israel. Khamenei ordered this attack after an emergency meeting of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
According to the report, it is not yet clear what kind of attack this will be and with what force Iran will attack Israel. But what is certain is that the kind of attack that Iran carried out on Israeli military bases in Tel Aviv and Haifa last April. This time also Iran can carry out similar drone and missile attacks. Along with this, Iran can also attack with the help of its allies.
After the confirmation of Haniya’s death, Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei had indicated that Iran would directly attack Israel in revenge. Khamenei had said that we will avenge his (Hania’s) blood because it happened in our territory.
Iran and Hamas have blamed Israel for Hania’s murder. But Israel has neither accepted nor rejected this attack yet.
There will be a heavy price to pay!
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that if there is any kind of attack on his country, it will have to pay a heavy price. This is Ismail Haniya’s first public statement after his death in an airstrike in Tehran.
Israel has a long history of destroying its enemies. From Iran’s nuclear scientists to military commanders, it has eliminated many of its enemies abroad. Haniya had also gone to Iran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s newly elected President Pezeshkian, where he was targeted and attacked.
Hamas Chief Haniya lived in Doha
The Palestinian organization Hamas has many units, which handle political, military or social work. A consultative body decides the policies of Hamas. Its headquarters is in the Gaza Strip area. Till now the command of Hamas was in the hands of Ismail Haniya, who was its chairman. He took over this job as the successor of Khalid Meshaal from 2017. He lived in Doha, the capital of Qatar and looked after the work of Hamas from there. In fact, Egypt had banned his movement to Gaza.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had issued a statement saying that Israel carried out an attack targeting Haniya in Iran, in which the Hamas chief as well as one of his bodyguards were killed. Earlier in April, Israeli security forces had also killed Haniya’s three sons. Israel had killed Hania’s three sons in an airstrike on the Gaza Strip. Israeli army IDF had told that Haniya’s three sons Aamir, Hazem and Mohammed were going to carry out terrorist activities in Gaza, meanwhile all three came under air strikes.
