Bahrain: The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has warned that Iran is rapidly increasing its stockpile of uranium that could be used to build nuclear weapons. He also said that Iran has begun manufacturing advanced centrifuges. Rafael Mariano Grossi’s remarks came hours after Iran announced the successful launch of its most massive spacecraft ever.
What are Western countries saying?
In response to Iran’s successful space launch, Western countries claimed that it improved Tehran’s ballistic missile program. The launch of the Simorgh rocket comes as Iran claims it has 60% uranium in its nuclear programme. Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, and officials may be pursuing bombs and intercontinental ballistic missiles that would allow Tehran to use the weapons against distant foes such as the United States.

Iran’s move could escalate tensions in West Asia, where Israel’s war with Hamas continues in the Gaza Strip and attacks continue to occur in Lebanon even after a ceasefire. However, Iran is busy preparing for possible talks with the incoming administration of newly elected US President Donald Trump.
