iPhone 16 Wars: Data shows that fast-moving consumer goods platforms Blinkit and Big Basket are competing fiercely for iPhone sales as customers wait in long queues. Although both companies broke the “300 mark” within hours of the launch on September 20, Big Basket took the lead by 3 minutes.

Hari Menon, co-founder of Big Basket, announced that the company sold 372 iPhones in 100 minutes (1.6 hours). “In just 100 minutes, 372 iPhones were snapped up by happy customers. Watch the magic of our first iPhone 16 delivery in real time this morning…” Menon posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Blinkit followed suit. Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa said the company began delivering iPhones at 8 a.m. and could exceed “300” in a few minutes.

“Check in 3 times per minute”

Dhindsa’s post on the iPhone X was at 10:30 am, a full 2.5 hours after their sale began at 8 am, setting a record for Blinkit selling about one iPhone 16 per minute.

Big Basket, on the other hand, is selling three iPhones every minute, the company said on X. “Over 100 iPhones sold, an average of 3 per minute!! If you want an iPhone 16 now, get it now!” the TATA entity announced on X, while retweeting co-founder Menon’s original sales post.

Blinkit has partnered with Unicorn stores to sell the new iPhone 16 series in select cities including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru, starting at The base model is priced at 79,900. Big Basket has tied up with Croma and is also selling it in the above three cities except Pune.

Several other Q-commerce platforms like Zepto and Flipkart Minutes are also delivering iPhone 16 in minutes. Zepto currently delivers iPhone 16 only in Hyderabad and Chennai.
