‘At least I don’t have such expectations from death, life has cheated me one after another.’… These lines of famous poet Firaq Gorakhpuri fit perfectly on Surya, wife of Gujarat cadre IAS officer Ranjit Kumar J. Recently, Surya committed suicide by consuming poison outside his house in Gandhinagar. She wanted to go inside the house, but the security guard refused. It seemed easier to kill a woman who was frustrated and troubled with her life than to live. Surya is gone, but has left behind many stories and questions along with his entire family.
The first question is that whose husband is an IAS officer, working in a good department and position in the state, who has two children, why did she feel the need to commit suicide? Why was the security guard stopping him from entering his own house? After all, what was her fault that her husband was not supporting her? The answers to all these questions are hidden in that heart-wrenching story, which started eight months ago. Actually, the mutual relationship between Surya and Ranjeet was not good. There used to be fights every day. Ranjeet had come to know about her illicit relations.
This is the reason why one day Surya left her husband’s house and came to her home state Tamil Nadu from Gujarat. She started living there with her lover Raja. Her lover is not a simple man, but the most notorious gangster of the state. Wanted for several serious crimes including murder and attempt to murder. The king tricked Surya into leaving her husband and coming. Both will start some business together. Surya has a good property, his lover had his eye on it. He wanted her to sell it and give him the money, so that he could start a business.
While both were planning their business, the police arrested Raja in an old case of murder. In this case, a case was also registered against Surya for giving shelter to a criminal in his house. She became completely alone. He had to suffer financial loss due to the expenses incurred in fighting the legal battle and preparing the business. To compensate for this, he sold some of his property to a woman named Lakshmi. After this she came to Bangalore and enrolled in a course to become a chef in a college there.
Name came up in kidnapping case, police started search
During this time, when money started falling short, he requested Lakshmi to help him pay the course fees, but she flatly refused. On the contrary, he said that if he wanted money then he should also sell his remaining property to him. Surya got angry on this. Meanwhile, on July 11, Lakshmi’s son was kidnapped. He filed a case accusing Surya of this. A ransom of Rs 2 crore was demanded for the release of the child, but Madurai Police recovered the boy safely. After this the police started searching for the accused including Surya.
When the wife is in trouble, she thinks of her husband.
Surya started running here and there, avoiding the police. In this time of adversity, she finally thought of her family and husband. She thought that since her husband was an IAS officer, perhaps he could save her from getting into these legal troubles. Thinking this, she reached her home in Gandhinagar. But here the husband had made some other plan. He had already thought of getting a divorce to get rid of his wife. Were in the process of filing a divorce petition. He had also come to know about the case registered against Surya. This is the reason why the guard stopped him from entering the house.
The world betrayed me, she came to apologize to her husband
Now seeing no end to his problems, Surya consumed poison outside the house. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where he died during treatment. The police investigating this case found a letter, which was written by Surya. He has written this letter in Tamil addressed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, in which he has told his entire story. Things ranging from separation from husband to betrayal by lover are recorded. She has written that she had come to apologize to her husband, who is a noble person and takes good care of his children.
Married 20 years ago, was the mother of two children
Gandhinagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Ravi Teja Vasamsetty said that Surya was absconding. The police was chasing him. She had come back to Gandhinagar in the hope of meeting her husband again. IAS Ranjit Kumar and she were married about 20 years ago. He has two children, a son and a daughter, who live with their father. Ranjit Kumar’s lawyer Hitesh Gupta said that when Surya returned, the IAS officer was in the process of filing a divorce petition. He is a 2005 batch officer. Presently he is the Secretary of Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission.
Cheated on her husband herself, kept cheating on her all her life
There are many lessons and lessons learned from Surya’s story. She cheated in a pure relationship and came to live with a stranger by trusting him. By betraying her loved ones and trusting strangers, she made the biggest mistake of her life. Her lover first tried to extort money, then sold her property in the name of business. He kept pretending to be in love with her, even though he was already with Lakshmi. His property was taken by fraud from both of them.
