Indore: Police chief who created awareness through alias ‘Yamraj’ during lockdown dies electrocuted during Diwali cleansing

Indore crime branch police chief Jawahar Singh Jadan died due to electrocution. Jawahar Juni, a resident of Indore police station, was electrocuted while cleaning his house on Friday. He was home alone when the incident occurred, while his family was outside. Neighbors heard his screams and informed his family, after which he was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The late Jawahar Singh was appointed as the Superintendent of Police of Jhadong Crime Branch, before which he also served at MG Road police station. At home, his nephew Vikrant Singh Jadaun serves in the Rasudia police station. His uncle Satyendra Singh Jadaun works as ASI at MG Road police station.

Jawahar Singh Jadan took on a different identity in Indore and dressed up as Yamraj during the coronavirus pandemic to create awareness among people about following the lockdown rules. At the time, his initiatives became a topic of discussion and he was seen as a responsible and sensitive police officer.

Electric shock accident

It was learned that Jawahar was hit by an electric wire while cleaning his house on Friday. It is understood he was home alone at the time of the accident and was unable to receive help. Neighbors immediately informed the family of the incident. When he arrived at the hospital, doctors pronounced him dead. The incident has left the police department and his family and acquaintances in mourning.

Police station condolences

Reacting to the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dandotia said Jawahar Singh Jadaun was an honest and dedicated police officer who performed his duties conscientiously under all circumstances. With his death, the department has lost a good police officer and the community has lost a sensitive person.
