YouTube video of controversial India’s Got Latent episode with inappropriate adult jokes by Ranveer Allahbaida has now been removed. Sharing an update on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), Kanchan Gupta, Senior Advisor, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India wrote “The ‘India Has (Got) Latent’ episode on @YouTube with obscene and perverse comments by Ranveer Allahbadia has been blocked following Government of India orders.”
Ranveer Allahbadia, who is popularly known as Beer Biceps recently appeared on Samay Raina’s show. A clip from the episode quickly went viral where Allahbadia asked a contestant a controversial question: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day or join them to finish it once and for all?”.

The remarks stirred nationwide controversy with users condemning Ranveer’s comments and demanding the government to take action. Consequently, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), asked YouTube to take “urgent action” and remove the episode.
According to news agency ANI, NHRC member Priyank Kanoongo wrote to Mira Chatt, Head Public Policy, YouTube, directing “to take urgent action to remove the concerned episode/videos from YouTube. Prior to the removal of such content, you are also required to submit details of the channel and the specific videos to the concerned police. authorities where the FIR has been registered, for further necessary action. An Action Taken Report in this regard shall be furnished to the Commission within three (10) days from the date of issue of this letter.”

The video is no longer available on YouTube. However, it remains unclear whether it was removed by Samay Raina or taken down by YouTube. Although, clips of the episode are still doing rounds on the internet.

Ranveer Allahbadia apologises

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Allahbadia wrote “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s got latent. I’m sorry.” He also shared a video, saying “My comment wasn’t appropriate. It wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte”.
He further added “I’m just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I wished to use my platform and obviously this is not how I wish to use it. I am not going to give any context or justification or reasoning behind whatever happened. I’m just here for an apology.”

“I personally had a lapse in judgement. I wasn’t cool on my part. The podcast was watched by people of all ages. Don’t want to be the kind of person that takes responsibility lightly and family is the last thing I would ever disrespect.”
He further added “Need to use this platform better. That’s been my learning from this whole experience. I promise to just get better. Have asked the makers of the video to remove the insensitive sections from the video.”
“All I can say in the end is sorry. Hope you forgive me as a human being,” he reiterated.
