The length of this Kalvari class submarine is about 221 feet, beam is 20 feet and height is 40 feet. These are equipped with 4 MTU 12V 396 SE84 diesel engines. Apart from this there are 360 ​​battery cells. It can run at a maximum speed of 20km/hour on the surface of water and 37km/hour underwater.

Their range is decided according to their speed. If it is moving at a speed of 15 km/hr on the surface, then it can travel up to 12 thousand km. Under water it can reach a range of 1020 kilometers but the speed should be 7.4 km/hr. These submarines can spend up to 50 days underwater.

Can go to a depth of 350 feet, 43 marines can be deployed

These submarines can go to a maximum depth of 350 feet. 8 military officers and 35 sailors can be deployed in it. Anti-torpede countermeasure system is installed inside them. Apart from this, there are 6 533 mm torpedo tubes, from which 18 SUT torpedoes or SM.39 Exocet anti-ship missiles can be launched. Apart from this, it can lay 30 sea mines under water. There are six submarines in the old Kalvari class submarines. These are- INS Kalwari, Khanderi, Karanj, Vela, Vagir and Wagshir.
