Indian-origin doctor shot dead in America

An Indian-origin doctor was shot dead in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA on Friday. The victim was identified as Dr Ramesh Babu Peramsetty from Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh, who was found dead on the spot. With 38 years of experience, he was a renowned doctor who founded the Crimson Network with the help of local doctors.

The Crimson Care Network team confirmed Peramsetty’s death in a statement on Facebook. The statement said, “As many may know at this time, we have been informed of the passing of Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty. The Peramsetty family has requested that we give them privacy during this time of grief. He has received a lot of love and trust. We continue to honor him as he would have wanted. Thank you for your understanding.”

The doctor’s family is settled in America

In another post, Crimson Care Network wrote, “Please keep Peramsetty and the Crimson Care Network family in your prayers during this difficult time. We will continue to honor his legacy. Our clinics will remain open during the transition period.” Peramsetty leaves behind a family of his wife, two sons and two daughters, all of whom are settled in the US.

Who was Dr. Ramesh Babu Peramsetti?

Peramsetty graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin and Sri Venkateswara Medical College in 1986. His speciality was in emergency medicine and family medicine and he was also associated with the Diploma in Child Health (DCH) Regional Medical Center. Along with Tuscaloosa, he has worked in various hospitals in four other locations.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Peramsetty provided healthcare services to the affected people on a large scale. According to local reports, he received several awards for his profound contribution. The late doctor was also active in social work, he donated about 17 thousand dollars or 14.2 lakhs to Menkuru High School in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
