BrahMos supersonic cruise missile
The Indian Navy can conduct missile tests from warships between December 18 and 19. To this end, the Navy issued a NOTAM, which gave information about the missile test with a range of 800 kilometers. The missile test will be conducted near the Bay of Bengal in Visakhapatnam. The missile test will be conducted from a warship from 7 a.m. on the 18th to 4 p.m. on December 19 the next day. According to sources, BrahMos could be a test of an extended-range supersonic cruise missile or an indigenous technology cruise missile. The missile will be tested on Navy warships.
The BrahMos extended-range cruise missile has a strike range of about 800 kilometers, which is three times the range of the old model. The missile was jointly developed by India and Russia and is used by the Indian Navy. The BrahMos missile is characterized by its ability to fly at supersonic speeds and can be used from land, air and sea. The BrahMos extended-range cruise missile is one of the fastest strike missiles in the world, flying at a speed of about 4,300 kilometers per hour.
Able to fly at a height of 10 meters

Four naval versions of BrahMos missile
BrahMos missiles are available in four naval variants. The first is an anti-ship type launched from a warship, and the second is a land attack type launched from a warship. Both models are already in service with the Indian Navy. A third anti-ship variant is launched from a submarine. The test was successful. The fourth type is a land attack type launched from a submarine.
BrahMos is deployed on these warships
The Indian Navy has installed a launcher with eight BrahMos missiles on the Rajput-class destroyer INS Ranvijay. Apart from this, launchers equipped with eight BrahMos missiles are also deployed on the Talwar class frigates INS Teg, INS Tarkash and INS Trikand. BrahMos missiles are also installed on Shivalik-class frigates. It is also deployed on the Calcutta-class destroyers. The test has been successfully conducted at INS Visakhapatnam. Thereafter, the Indian Navy will also deploy this missile on the Nilgiri-class frigates.

Previously on November 27, the Indian Navy and DRDO conducted a secret test at sea. The Indian Navy successfully tested the K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missile from its nuclear-powered submarine INS Aligate for the first time. The K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missile capable of carrying nuclear weapons has a range of 3,500 kilometers. The missile gives India a second-strike capability. This means it can attack from land as well as underwater with the help of submarines. After this test, India has the ability to conduct nuclear attacks from long distances and even from the sea.
Sources said that another nuclear submarine “Aridman” will also join the Indian Navy in February next year. INS Aridman will be equipped with K-4 and K-5 ballistic missiles. What’s special is that the range of the K-5 ballistic missile will be larger, reaching 5,000 kilometers. India became the second country in Asia after China to use nuclear weapons in an attack from a submarine.
On November 16, DRDO successfully conducted a flight test of its long-range hypersonic missile at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha. This hypersonic missile is designed for all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces. The missile has a payload range of more than 1,500 kilometers.
About 20 additional test flights are planned
Previously, around November 11, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) conducted the first flight test of the Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) at the Chandipur Integrated Test Range, with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers. The successful test was conducted off the coast of Odisha using a mobile articulated launcher. According to sources, the Indian Navy may possess about 200 indigenous long-range attack cruise missiles. In this context, DRDO plans to conduct around 20 additional test flights to improve its performance, which will also include terminal homing through indigenous radio frequencies. This missile has a range of more than 1,000 kilometers and has sea-skimming capabilities, which will bring a huge improvement to the strength of the Indian armed forces, especially the navy.
