China-India border disengagement: Local military commanders of India and China will hold a meeting today (Thursday) at Depsang and Demchok along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Patrols will begin in both locations tomorrow (Friday) and the issue will be discussed at today’s meeting. Disengagement and verification were completed at Depsang yesterday but aerial verification at Demchok was not possible due to bad weather. An aerial verification will be carried out in Demchok today.
Depsang and Demchok disengage
As per the India-China agreement, the disengagement and verification of Depsang and Demchok will be completed by October 29. By Tuesday evening, tents and temporary structures had been dismantled at both locations. The areas where vehicles and soldiers need to be withdrawn have also been completed. Disengagement and verification occurred simultaneously. Drone aerial verification was completed in Depsang on Tuesday.

Restore the situation before April 2020
In this case, patrols will begin on Thursday, October 31. During this period, there will be no joint patrols by soldiers, that is, soldiers from the two countries will not patrol together. Due to the short time interval, soldiers from both countries can conduct patrols on the same day. This will also be discussed today when local military commanders of the Indian and Chinese armies meet. Soldiers from both countries will now be able to patrol all locations patrolled before April 2020. At this point, Depsang and Demchok will return to their pre-April 2020 situation.
