India on Tuesday sent 32 tons of relief supplies to Myanmar in a military transport plane. The relief supplies were sent under the “Sadbhav” operation that began two days ago to help Southeast Asian countries affected by the storm. Affected by Cyclone Yagi, many places in Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and other countries suffered severe floods. It was described as the most powerful storm in Asia this year. India has sent relief supplies to Vietnam and Laos.

India on Sunday sent 10 tonnes of aid, including rations, clothes and medicines, to Myanmar via its naval ship INS Satpura. “Operation Sadbhav continues and India has sent the second batch of aid to Myanmar,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said on social media platform X.

He said the air force plane was carrying 32 tons of relief supplies, including hygiene kits and medicines, for the people of Myanmar. Jaiswal said the Indian Navy was carrying an additional 10 tons of rations for Myanmar.

Operation Sadbhav is part of India’s wider efforts to contribute to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region. Apart from this, India today sent 1,000 tonnes of rice to Namibia to help it cope with the recent drought.
