India has more than 442 metric tonnes of food to hit Myanmar

India on Saturday gave Myanmar a large consignment of food assistance to Myanmar at Thilawa port in the southern coastal region, which gave the Chief Minister of the Yangon region as part of his ongoing Operation Brahma.

India launched Operation Brahma to provide necessary assistance including discovery and rescue (SAR), humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and medical aid after the disastrous earthquake. India gave Myanmar the first installment of human aid and disaster relief (HADR) material in less than 24 hours.

On Saturday, 442 MT of food assistance was given by a naval ship at Thilawa port, about 400 km south of Myanmar.

“Carrying the needs of the affected people. A large 442T consignment of food aid (rice, cooking oil, noodles and biscuits) arrived at Thilawa port today by INS GHARIAL and handed over by @ambabhaythakur by CM Yangon U Soein & Themahma.

442 MT of food aid includes 405 metric tonnes of rice, 30 metric tonnes of cooking oil, 5 metric tonnes of biscuits, and 2 MT of instantaneous noodles, all supplies were all made to meet the needs of immediate food requirements of the affected population in Myanmar when April 1 April 1.

On Friday, India, other quad partner countries – Australia, Japan and the United States along with the Myanmar earthquake had a humanitarian assistance of more than USD 20 million, with the promise of supplying relief and deploying emergency medical teams for people affected by the tragedy.
