India has lost a great son…PM Modi’s touching article in memory of Ratan Tata

Prime Minister Modi, Ratan Tata

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a touching article in memory of Ratan Tata. In this article, he remembers the life of Ratan Tata, his personality and his contribution to the country. Prime Minister Modi wrote that today marks one month since the death of Ratan Tataji. This day last month, I was preparing to leave for the ASEAN Summit when I learned of his death. The pain of Ratan Tataji leaving us is still with me. It is not easy to forget this pain. In Ratan Tataji, India lost a great son, a priceless gem.

The Prime Minister said that even today, from cities and towns to villages, his absence is deeply felt. We all share this grief. Be it an industrialist, a budding entrepreneur or a professional, everyone is saddened by his demise. People associated with environmental protection…people associated with social services are equally saddened by his death. We feel this sadness not just in India but across the world. Ratan Tata is a source of inspiration to the youth. His life and personality remind us that there are no dreams that are unattainable and no goals that are unattainable. Ratan Tata ji tells everyone that one can achieve success by maintaining a humble character and helping others.

Ratan Tata recognizes India’s potential

Prime Minister Modi said Ratan Tata ji is a symbol of the best traditions of Indian entrepreneurship. He is a strong representative of the values of reliability, excellence and quality service. Under his leadership, the Tata Group reached new heights and became a symbol of respect, integrity and credibility around the world. Despite this, he accepted his achievement with complete humility and ease. Openly supporting the dreams of others and helping others realize their dreams is one of the most beautiful qualities of Ratan Tata. In recent years, he has become known for mentoring the Indian startup ecosystem and investing in promising future ventures. He understood the hopes and aspirations of young entrepreneurs and recognized their potential to shape India’s future.

The Prime Minister said that by supporting the efforts of India’s youth, he is encouraging a new generation of dreamers to take risks and transcend boundaries. His footsteps have greatly promoted the development of innovation and entrepreneurship culture in India. We will definitely see its positive impact on India in the coming decades. Ratan Tataji has always emphasized the best quality products…the best services, pointing the way for Indian companies to set global benchmarks. Today, as India moves towards its development goals of 2047, only by setting a global benchmark can we raise our flag in the world. I hope that his vision will inspire future generations of our country and that India will strengthen its recognition of world-class qualities.

Ratan Tataji’s greatness was not limited to the boardroom or helping colleagues. He has compassion for all living beings. His love for animals was well known and he promoted all efforts focusing on animal welfare. He often shares photos of his dogs, which are an integral part of his life. I remember, when people gathered to bid farewell to Ratan Tataji… his dog Goa also came there with misty eyes.

Ratan Tata’s life reminds us that leadership is measured not only by achievements but also by the ability to care for the most vulnerable. Ratan Tataji always put the nation first spirit first. After the 26/11 terror attacks, he quickly reopened Mumbai’s iconic Taj Mahal Hotel, a symbol of the country’s collective rise. His move sends an important message: India will not stop… India is fearless and refuses to give in to terrorism.

Prime Minister Modi said, “Personally, I have had the privilege of knowing him very closely over the past few decades. We worked together in Gujarat. His company has made large investments there. These include many projects that he is very passionate about. When I joined the central government, we continued to interact closely and he remained a loyal partner in our nation-building efforts. Shri Ratan Tata’s passion for Swachh Bharat Mission particularly touched my heart. He was a staunch supporter of this mass movement. He understands how important cleanliness and healthy habits are for India’s progress. I still remember the video message he gave in early October to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Swachh Bharat mission. In a way, this video message was his last public appearance.

Fighting cancer is another goal close to his heart. I remember an event in Assam two years ago when we jointly inaugurated several cancer hospitals in the state. He made it clear in that speech that he wanted to devote the last years of his life to the health sector. His deep compassion for cancer patients is evidenced by his efforts to make health care and cancer care accessible and affordable.

Prime Minister Modi said, I remember Ratan Tataji as a learned man who used to write to me on various issues after sending congratulatory messages, be it governance issues, appreciation for some work or elections victory. Just a few weeks ago, I was in Vadodara to inaugurate an aircraft factory with the President of the Spanish Government, Mr. Pedro Sánchez. C-295 aircraft will be produced at this factory in India. Mr. Ratan Tata started this work. At that time I felt deeply the absence of Shri Ratan Tata.

Today, as we honor him, we must also remember the society he envisioned. Business becomes a force for good, where everyone’s potential is valued and progress is measured by the welfare and happiness of all. Ratan Tataji still lives on in the lives and dreams of the people he supported and their dreams have come true. Future generations will forever be grateful to him for making India a better, kinder and hopeful country.
