Three students preparing for civil services examination died after the basement of Rao IAS Coaching Center in Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar was flooded. Before that, a youth preparing for IAS had died due to electric shock. Due to rain, current had entered the iron gate, which proved fatal.
The cause of death of all four youth is not a natural disaster, but a man-made undertaking. All four youths have fallen victim to the system’s mismanagement – and all of their dreams have been strangled in broad daylight.
The sad thing is that instead of trying to fix the system, a phase of blaming each other has started. Classes were being conducted illegally in the basement of Drishti IAS Coaching, which has been sealed.
The issue of protest could have changed
It would have been better if the INDIA Block protest had been postponed for the time being, and if this was not possible, instead of protesting against the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, it would have been done over the death of youth in Delhi – the protest would have been effective, the government Feels pressure separately too.

Politics is on over the death of youth
Shreya Yadav of Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, also had her dream of becoming an IAS unfulfilled due to the accident in Delhi’s coaching centre. Apart from 25 year old Shreya Yadav, 28 year old Nevin Delvin and 25 year old Tanya Soni also became victims of the accident.
It is said that when water started filling the basement, 30 students were present there. Suddenly the basement started filling with water and there was panic. Ropes had to be used to pull out the trapped students. The rescue operation lasted for about 8 hours, but three students remained trapped in the basement and could not be saved.

The video is said to be from July, 2023 which was shot by a coaching student. It is clear from the video that last year also the gate of the coaching institute was broken during the rain, like it is broken this time – clearly, if the solution to the problem had been found earlier, or action had been taken by the administration. The lives of the youth could have been saved.
Arvind Kejriwal’s message from Tihar Jail is that he is more concerned about the people of Delhi than himself. If this is so, then could Arvind Kejriwal have advised his colleagues to protest on the issue of death of youth at Jantar Mantar, the issue of their arrest and sending them to jail can be raised later also.
It seems that the INDIA block has missed a big opportunity to protest against the Central Government – otherwise, when there is an uproar in Delhi, why would the leaders of India have been sounding the trumpet at Jantar Mantar without time for the release of Kejriwal?
