ICC World Test Championship points table: What happened in Perth was recorded in history. India registered its biggest victory on Australian soil with 295 runs on day four of the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Optus Stadium in Perth and took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Chasing India’s target of 534 runs, Australia fell short by 238 runs in 58.4 overs in the face of sharp bowling by Bumrah (three wickets) and Mohammed Siraj (three wickets). In this way, the Indian team set a record for the largest number of wins in Australia and the second-largest number of wins outside Asia. Previously, India had defeated Australia by 222 runs in Melbourne in December 1977. India’s biggest win outside Asia was a 318-run victory against West Indies in North Bay in August 2019.
