India and Pakistan agree on ‘hybrid format’ where matches will be played at neutral venues

There is some confusion regarding the 2025 Champions Trophy. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been in panic ever since the Indian team refused to travel to Pakistan. Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Championship trophy, a major piece of news has come to light. In fact, India has been awarded the right to host the Women’s T20 World Cup. Interestingly, both India and Pakistan have agreed to host the tournament in a “hybrid format”. The momentous decision was taken at the annual general meeting of the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) in Multan.

It has been decided to host the first Blind Women’s T20 World Cup in India next year on a “hybrid format” basis where Pakistan will play in either Nepal or Sri Lanka. Just a few weeks ago, India decided to withdraw from the Men’s T20 Blind Cricket World Cup in Pakistan due to security reasons.

India wins hosting rights

India was awarded the right to host the women’s tournament last year and it was confirmed at the annual general meeting attended by 11 member nations on Monday. India, UK and New Zealand attended the meeting virtually. Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) president GK Mahantesh told PTI that India did not get the right to host the event until last year (2023). It was also decided that if the Pakistan team comes to India and faces visa issues, the tournament will be organized in a “hybrid mode”. Pakistan will play all their matches at neutral venues.

Pakistan will play at neutral venue

Asked where Pakistan’s matches will be held, Mahantesh said Pakistan’s blind women’s team will stay in Nepal or Sri Lanka throughout the tournament. He said the Indian team will travel to Nepal or Sri Lanka to play them. Our Cricket Board will bear the costs of the entire tournament. We will bear the entire cost of the Pakistani team’s stay in both countries. Let us tell you that CABI is neither recognized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India nor the International Cricket Council (ICC).
