IND and OFF: The first Test match of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin today, November 22, in Perth. India captain Jasprit Bumrah won the coin toss and decided to bat first against Australia. Today, two players from India are ready to make their debut. Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy have made it to the last 11. At this point, both players have a chance to play the first Test match for India. Australia will also make its debut. Opener Nathan McSweeney is ready to play his first Test match.
Considering the Optus Stadium in Perth, India did not give a chance to R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the last 11 match. Under such circumstances, 22-year-old Harshit Rana’s long wait for his debut in Australia is finally over. Rana has been linked with the Indian team for the past few months but he has been overlooked.
Even in the three home Test matches against New Zealand, Harshit Rana did not get a chance to feature. But now he’s making his debut in Australia. Harshit Rana performed brilliantly in IPL 2024 and played an important role in helping his team KKR win the title. Now, his endeavor will be to bowl brilliantly for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The match elevens for both teams are as follows:-
Australia (starting lineup): Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Kay Lee (wk), Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.
India (Starting Lineup): KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Reddy, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana, Jasprit Bumrah (c), Mohammed Siraj.
