In view of violence in Bangladesh, night curfew announced on Meghalaya border, high alert on the border

The impact of violence and unrest in Bangladesh is also being seen in the border states of India. In view of the situation, night curfew has been imposed in Meghalaya. Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Preston Tynsong on Monday said the state government has decided to impose curfew on the international border with Bangladesh amid unrest in the neighboring country.

He said that the curfew on the border of more than 444 kilometers will remain in force from 6 pm to 6 am daily till further notice. The decision was taken during an urgent meeting with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and Meghalaya Police.

Curfew imposed on 4,096 km long border

Tynsong said, ‘In view of the unstable situation, the state government has decided to impose night curfew on the international border with Bangladesh.’ Officials said the BSF has issued ‘high alert’ in all its formations along the 4,096 km long India-Bangladesh border in view of the developments in the neighboring country.

BSF DG visited India-Bangladesh border

Border Security Force Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary on Monday visited the India-Bangladesh border in North 24 Parganas district and the Sundarban region of West Bengal along with Eastern Command Additional Director General Ravi Gandhi and South Bengal Inspector General Maninder Pratap Singh. The objective of this visit is to review the operational preparedness and strategic deployment of BSF in these important border areas.

Number of soldiers increased on the border

BSF Director General Daljit Singh Choudhary has taken additional charge of DG of BSF on August 3 and after that his first important official visit is to the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal. In view of the changed situation in Bangladesh, BSF has issued an alert on the India-Bangladesh border and the number of soldiers on the border has also been increased.
