Indian Navy is going to get many different types of warships and submarines within the next one year. That means these will be deployed at their designated places to protect the country. They will start keeping an eye on the enemies in the sea. China and Pakistan will not even be able to muster the courage to look towards the Indian sea.

These 12 warships include frigates, corvettes, destroyers, submarines and survey vessels. Their inclusion in the Navy will increase the level of security in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). This is also an exercise to modernise and expand the Navy’s fleet so that better security and peace can be ensured.

Submarine

INS Vagsheer… This is a diesel-electric attack submarine of the Kalvari class i.e. Scorpene class. This submarine will be deployed in December this year. It specializes in anti-surface, anti-submarine warfare. INS Vagsheer can perform many missions. Such as anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, laying sea mines, monitoring the area etc. The submarine has been designed to operate in every situation during operations.

Its length is approximately 221 feet, beam is 20 feet and height is 40 feet. Its speed on the surface of water is 20 KM per hour. Under water it moves at a speed of 37 KM per hour. It can spend 50 days under water. It can go to a maximum depth of 350 feet. 8 military officers and 35 sailors can be deployed in it.

Anti-torpedo countermeasure system is installed inside them. Apart from this, there are 6 torpedo tubes of 533 mm, from which 18 SUT torpedoes or SM.39 Exocet anti-ship missiles can be launched. Apart from this, it can lay 30 sea mines under water.

Survey Vessel

INS Sanshodhak… It will join the Navy in June next year. It is a Sandhayak class survey ship. With its help, the Navy can carry out any kind of research and survey mission above and below the sea.

INS Director (INS Nirdeshak)… This is also a survey vessel of the Sandhayak class. It was inducted in August this year. It has the capability to conduct advanced hydrographic investigations. It will also help the Navy in maritime operations and safe navigation.

INS Ishkashk… This survey vessel of Sandhyak class will be received in March next year. With this, the Navy will be able to do hydrographic survey. And it will also help in collecting maritime data.

Corvettes

INS Arnala… It will be handed over to the Navy in November this year. Its displacement will be 900 tonnes. It is about 255 feet long. The beam is 34 feet high. It will run at a maximum speed of 46 km/hr. Its range is 3300 km. 57 naval personnel including 7 officers can be deployed on this warship.

It has an ASW combat suite which will prepare the weapons to counter the enemy’s attacks. It will keep an eye on them. It has 4 types of management systems which will help in keeping the warship safe during the war. RBU-6000 anti-submarine rocket launcher will be installed. It is a 213 mm anti-submarine rocket system which fires rockets on enemy submarines.

Apart from this, it has 6 lightweight ASW torpedoes. Also, there will be anti-submarine sea mines. INS Arnala will have a 30 mm CRN-91 naval gun. This is an automatic gun, which can fire 550 bullets every minute. That means the enemy ship will be riddled with bullets. Its range is 4 km. Apart from this, 2 OFT 12.7 mm M2 stabilized remote controlled guns will be installed. This will be the largest warship of the Indian Navy equipped with water jet propulsion powered system.

INS Mahe… This is the ASW-SWC corvette that will be delivered in August next year. It is a minesweeper. Apart from this, everything else in it will be similar to Arnala.

Frigates

INS Tamala… Talwar class frigate. It will be inducted into the Navy in February 2025. The displacement of these warships is 3850 tonnes. The length is 409.5 feet, beam is 49.10 feet and draught is 13.9 feet. These warships move at a maximum speed of 59 km/hr in the sea.

This warship can carry 180 soldiers including 18 officers and can remain deployed in the sea for 30 days. These warships are equipped with electronic warfare systems. Also, 4 KT-216 decoy launchers are installed. Apart from this, 24 Shtil-1 medium range missiles are deployed in it.

8 Igla-1E, 8 Vertical Launch Anti-Ship Missile Club, 8 Vertical Launch Anti-Ship and Land Attack Brahmos Missile are also deployed. It has a 100 mm A-190E naval gun. Apart from this, a 76 mm Oto Melara naval gun is installed. 2 AK-630 CIWS and 2 Kashtan CIWS guns are installed.

Apart from these dangerous guns, there are two 533 mm torpedo tubes and a rocket launcher has also been deployed. This warship can be equipped with a Kamov-28 or a Kamov-31 or a Dhruv helicopter. INS Tushil It will be given to the Navy in September this year.

INS Nilgiri… This warship will be handed over to the army in December this year. Its next frigates IAS Udaygiri will be handed over to the Navy in March next year and INS Himgiri in August. Nilgiri class frigates are actually guided missile frigates. They are being built by Mazgaon Dock and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers. Under this, seven warships are being built.

Five of these have already been launched which will join the Indian Navy by 2025. These frigates displace 6670 tonnes. They are equipped with 32 Barak-8 missiles, 8 Brahmos missiles, 2 Varunastra torpedo launchers, 2 anti-submarine rocket launchers, three guns. Apart from this, Dhruv and Seaking helicopters can be deployed on them. Four Kavach decoy launchers are installed. 2 torpedo countermeasures systems are installed.

Destroyers

INS Visakhapatnam… The Visakhapatnam class comprises four warships. Visakhapatnam is the lead warship of its class. It will be inducted into the Navy in December this year. Some upgradation work is underway in it. A new warship of the same class will be inducted in December this year. INS Surat Will also be included.
