Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras today launched the ‘IITM School Connect’ programme. For this purpose, two certificate course programs have been launched titled “Data Science and Artificial Intelligence” and “Electronic Systems”. Students who wish to attend IIT Madras courses can register on the official website school-connect.study.iitm.ac.in.

Certification course will last several weeks

These are four to eight-week certified courses designed by IIT Madras professors with content specifically tailored for current students. The courses will be delivered in an online mode and are designed to provide students in grades 11 and 12 with practical career experience. The next batch of entry-level courses will start on October 21, 2024. Registration for this batch starts on September 16th and ends on October 4th.

IIT Madras will issue certificates to eligible students upon completion of the course. The institute said that 50 schools have collaborated with IITM so far and more than 11,000 students have benefited from the last batch. Key features of the program include recorded lecture videos, hands-on training, live interactions, assignments, and computer-based certification assessments.

Professor Pratap Haridas, Dean (Academic Programs), IIT Madras, said it was encouraging to see students independently building remote-controlled robots. Students taking data science courses work on real-world projects, which provides a different way of thinking. To do this, children are working with datasets. Such courses introduce students to different subjects and help children identify their interests and strengths.
