IIT Delhi student hanged himself in dormitory, the big reason comes to light

A 21-year-old student of IIT Delhi committed suicide by hanging himself from the fan in his hostel room. Police found no suicide note in his room. He was identified as Kumar Yash, a resident of Deoghar in Jharkhand. He is a second-year master’s student here. It is understood he is receiving treatment for mental illness. I also went to the hospital at IIT on Tuesday.

A senior police officer said that a PCR call was received around 11 pm on Tuesday that a student had committed suicide in Room D-57 of Aravali hostel of IIT Delhi. Subsequently, the police immediately sent personnel to the scene. The room was locked from inside but his friends and IIT employees broke the window and entered his room. His body was found hanging from two towels.

Then the towel was cut and his body was laid down. He was taken by ambulance to Safdarjung Hospital. Doctors pronounced him dead there. His body has been kept safely in the morgue. Relatives of the deceased have been informed. The police investigated the dormitory room where he committed suicide but found no suicide note and only some medical documents.

According to the deceased student’s medical health report card, he was being treated for mental illness. On October 29, he met with a psychiatrist. His friend’s statement was recorded. There is no possibility of foul play in this matter. The matter is under further investigation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Surendra Chaudhary said teams were gathering more information by talking to the student’s family.

He said, “We have informed the victim’s family. They will reach Delhi soon. We are collecting more information to know why he took this step. Our team has also recorded the statements of his classmates. CCTV The video quarters are also being checked to know when he went to the doctor and when he returned from there.

Meanwhile, IIT Delhi said in a statement that the institute is deeply saddened by the untimely demise of a second-year M.A. student in cognitive science from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Delhi Police is investigating the unfortunate incident that happened on the campus. We express our deepest condolences to the student’s family and friends.
