IIT-Bombay and IIT-Delhi are both top engineering colleges in India and students graduating from these colleges have a promising future. The highest salary packages prove that these institutions are producing skilled engineers for the country. Thousands of youngsters dream of studying in these IITs and appearing for IIT-JEE (Engineering Entrance Exam). One major reason for this is the placement and salary packages of these institutes. Students who study in IIT Delhi and Bombay can get salaries worth lakhs in big companies.

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and Delhi have the highest salary packages

Both IIT-Bombay and IIT-Delhi have achieved impressive placement records over the past few years. Talking about placement records for 2023, students from IIT-Bombay received the highest international salary of Rs 36.7 lakh per annum, while IIT-Delhi received the highest salary of Rs 24 lakh per annum for 2021-22 and Rs 14 lakh per annum for 2020-21.

Average salary packages at IIT Bombay and Delhi

In the 2022-23 placement season, the average CTC for IIT Bombay graduates was Rs 21.82 lakh per annum, a slight increase from Rs 21.5 lakh per annum last year and Rs 17.91 lakh per annum in 2020-21. In contrast, IIT Delhi has been offering higher salary packages. According to The Indian Express, the average CTC in 2022-23 was Rs 25.82 lakh per annum, up from Rs 24.45 lakh per annum in 2021-22 and Rs 22.69 lakh per annum in 2020-21.

The environment in IITs is not that hospitable

If we talk about the average salary packages of both the engineering colleges, then things are not as rosy as they seem. IIT Bombay seems to have a much lesser package compared to IIT Delhi. The number of companies hiring at IIT Bombay has increased by 12% compared to previous years, but the number of offers is still less. Surprisingly, this year the students of IIT Bombay were offered an annual package of Rs 4 lakh, while 25% of the students were left empty-handed.

The annual fee for 78 students is only Rs. 4-8 lakh

This year, 10 students of IIT-Bombay received benefits ranging from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6 lakh per annum. 68 students received benefits ranging from 6 LPA to Rs 8 lakh per annum. 128 students received benefits ranging from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 12 lakh per annum. We are not questioning the reputation of any institution.

Average salaries may fluctuate due to factors such as the global economy, company recruitment policies, student skills, etc. Therefore, the information given here is an approximate number. There may be many reasons for low salaries. One of the biggest reasons is the trend of the industry.

Industry trends are changing

Hiring in sectors such as trading, banking and fintech remained active, including 113 offers from 33 financial services companies. Offers in new areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, product management, mobile, 5G, data science, analytics and education increased, reflecting the changing trends in the industry. Consulting offers also fell this season compared to last year, with only 29 consulting companies issuing 117 offers.
