Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is on a 3-day visit to the US. During his visit, Rahul Gandhi visited Georgetown University in Washington DC on Tuesday. Here he targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘Before the elections, we kept emphasizing the idea that institutions have been captured. The RSS has captured the education system. The media and investigative agencies are captured. We kept saying this but people were not understanding it. Then I started putting the Constitution forward and whatever I had said suddenly burst out.’

our bank accounts were closed

The Leader of Opposition said, ‘Poor India, oppressed India understood that if the Constitution is over, the whole game will be over. The poor understood deeply that this is a fight between those who protect the Constitution and those who destroy it. The issue of caste census also became big. These things suddenly started coming together. I don’t think the BJP was close to 246 in a fair election. They had a huge economic advantage. They had closed our bank accounts.’

I don’t consider it a free choice

Targeting the Election Commission, Rahul said, ‘The Election Commission was doing what they (BJP) wanted. The entire campaign was designed in such a way that Narendra Modi could do his work across the country. The states where they (BJP) were weak were designed differently from the states where they were strong. I do not see this as a free election. I see this as a controlled election.’

OBC-Dalits are being cheated

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘Halfway through the campaign, Modi did not think he was close to 300-400 seats. When he said that I talk directly to God, we knew that we had completely demolished him. We saw it as a psychological collapse. The coalition that brought Narendra Modi to power has broken. There is a huge nexus between the government and two or three big businesses. OBCs and Dalits are being cheated.’

Said this about 90% of the population

Rahul said, ‘The issue is that 90 percent of India’s OBCs, Dalits and Adivasis are not involved in this game. Caste census is a simple way to know how the lower castes, backward castes and Dalits are integrated into the system. 90 percent of India’s population has almost no ownership of the top 200 businesses in India. 90 percent of India’s people have almost no participation in the country’s Supreme Courts. We want to understand what their social and financial status is like. We also want to look at Indian institutions to know the sense of India’s participation in these institutions.’
