‘If the wife loves, the husband will rape’ This is how wife victims fight against marital rape laws

Many types of organizations regularly hold protests against their demands in the capital Delhi. We convey our views to the government. Demonstrations and protests were also held many times. Such protests are common in Delhi. But it was the demonstrations outside the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday that caught everyone’s attention. Especially the protesters’ slogans and placards. In fact, this demonstration does not belong to any political organization or party, but is a demonstration of husbands suffering at the hands of their wives. These people protest against marital rape laws.

– In marriage games every husband goes to jail.
If the wife loves, the husband will rape.
– The husband went to Tihar out of love for his wife.
– Don’t give me a son in your next life.

..About 75 people protested at the gates outside the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on Sunday, with who knows how many similar slogans. They also held placards with these slogans. Those protesting outside the stadium are those who have suffered from their wives in some way. Become a victim of their harassment or blackmail. Some of these people have not even seen their children for many years. Because their wives kicked them out of the house. Some children are not even allowed to see their fathers. Some husbands live in rented houses even though they own their own houses.

In fact, all these protestors of victimized wives gathered there to protest against the marital rape laws. They all attracted people’s attention because of their slogans and placards. Delhi High Court lawyer Manish Sindhwani led the protest. He himself was a victim of his wife. After becoming a victim himself, he decided to help others who were suffering because of his wife. Therefore, he founded the Nyay Prayas Foundation.

During the demonstration, advocate Manish Sindhwani said if the law was passed, men living in every house could be declared rapists and sent to jail. A wife can send her husband to jail for even a small quarrel. The husband may be blackmailed. Some people talk about consent relationships, but the question is who decides consent? The consent can be changed the following night after any dispute or argument.

Manish Sindhwani said laws made in the name of women’s safety have been misused. Be it domestic violence, dowry harassment or sexual violence. In most cases, women have been harassing their husbands in the name of these laws. In this case, if this new law is also passed, women will get another abusive law against men.

Protester Sumit Sinha said that if such one-sided laws against men continue to be enacted, in the future, young people will even start avoiding the name of marriage and the institution of marriage will become notorious. Sumit claimed that he had not been able to see his 6-year-old daughter for the past three years because of his wife.

Nyay Prayas Foundation is working to provide legal aid to the victimized husband. Among them are many such victimized husbands who themselves have been victims of violence and blackmail. Their wives kept asking them for money. By not paying, she continued to file false lawsuits against her husband and his parents. In many cases, husbands were kicked out of their homes and their property confiscated.

Let us tell you that there is no marital rape law in India and it is being discussed by the Supreme Court of India. The Nyay Prayas Foundation requested that the law not be passed. and continued to oppose the law. The organization believes the law is likely to be abused and the institution of marriage will fail.
