If non-Hindus cannot work in the Tirupati temple, then why should non-Muslims work in the Waqf Board? – Asaduddin Owaisi

Asaduddin Owaisi comments

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi said why should non-Muslims work in the Waqf Board when non-Hindus cannot work in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam? In fact, BR Naidu, the new chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) board, recently said that all those serving Lord Venkateswara should be Hindus. In response, Asaduddin Owaisi said that the TTD board has a total of 24 members.

None of the members working here are non-Hindu. However, there must be 2 non-Muslims on the Muslim Waqf Committee. He asked if there was equality between the two committees? Asaduddin Owaisi said strongly that if Muslims are not given job seats in Hindu Council TTD, how right is the demand to have non-Muslims in Muslim Council?

Why does the Waqf Committee’s proposed bill include non-Muslims?

Asaduddin Owaisi said that from a Hindu perspective, the decision taken by the TTD chairman was the right one. Our objection is that all members of the National Waqf Board should be Muslims, but their numbers are decreasing. At the same time, there must be 2 non-Muslim members on the Central Waqf Board.

He asked the Waqf Board why it made such a change. He said there should be equality between the two religions. Asaduddin Owaisi said when Hindu trusts cannot have non-Hindus as members, then is it right to do so in Muslim waqf committees?

What did Maulana Shahabuddin say?

Reacting to Asaduddin Owaisi’s statement, All India Muslim Conference national president Maulana Shahabuddin Bareilly responded. He said that whatever Asaduddin Owaisi said about the Tirupati Balaji Trust and related to the Waqf Board was baseless and absolutely wrong. They have no information. He is a lawyer and should study the establishment of waqf committees in the country.

The Waqf Board has long appointed inspectors and waqf commissioners who are responsible for the functioning of the waqf board and land surveys. Most of the officers who came in were non-Muslims. Therefore, objections raised against Owaisi Saheb are baseless. They should look into the Waqf Board. They are not aware of it and are making such remarks without knowing it. Maulana further said that Owaisi Saheb should not mislead Muslims.
