The rape-murder case of a female resident doctor of Kolkata has become a topic of discussion in the whole country these days. The investigation of the case is in the hands of the CBI and the investigating agency is investigating the case by connecting the dots. Meanwhile, Aaj Tak had an exclusive conversation with the mother of rape-murder accused Sanjay Roy and found out how she is feeling at this time.
Accused Sanjay’s mother said in an interview to Aaj Tak Bangla, ‘Right now I am trying to cope with the situation. Sanjay lived in this house. That night (8 August) he did not eat food, he just said that I am going to the hospital. No matter what, he always returned at night.’
The happiness didn’t last long
The accused’s mother said, ‘Sanjay used to learn boxing. His father was very strict. Perhaps if I was equally strict, this would not have happened. He used to take care of me, even cook for me.’ Talking about Sanjay’s first marriage, his mother said that Sanjay’s first wife was a good girl. They were happy. Suddenly, she was diagnosed with cancer and their happiness could not last long.
‘I was shocked to hear about the incident’
Talking about Sanjay, his mother said, ‘He lived in this house. He never did anything unusual, so I was not alert. I did not know that he used to go to the hospital after RG. When I heard about the incident, I was shocked. My son is not like that. One day he came home drunk. Maybe he was sad because of his wife’s death. I told him not to worry, we will find someone else. It was natural for him to be sad. Maybe that is why he drank alcohol. I told him not to drink alcohol, drink tea.’
‘Everything went wrong after my husband’s death’
The accused’s mother further said, ‘In this difficult time, none of my daughters are coming home. All four of them have left me. Even the son-in-law did not come. Sometimes the police come. But I do not know who all are coming. After my husband’s death, everything got spoiled, my beautiful family is now just a memory. I had never heard before that Sanjay used to go to prostitutes.’
‘I don’t know who influenced him’
Sanjay’s mother said, ‘I don’t know how to appeal in the court. I am alone. If I meet him (Sanjay) I will ask Babu why did you do this? I don’t know who influenced him to do this. My son was never like this. If someone has trapped him then that person will be punished. If he has done this then God will punish him.’
‘He was fond of football and boxing’
Recalling Sanjay’s birth, his mother said, ‘He was born on Rakhi Purnima in 1989. I felt that his birth was the reincarnation of Lord Vishnu for us. That’s why I named him Sanjay. He used to play football, he loved boxing. He was a ‘topper’ in his childhood. He is a college pass out and has also been a part of NCC.’
