Jyotishpeeth’s Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand on Sunday criticized Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat and accused him of making statements based on political convenience. He said that when he wanted to take power, he often went to the temple, and now that he has taken power, he advised not to go to the temple anymore.
Shankaracharya criticized Mohan Bhagwat’s statement in which he said that no temple will be allowed anywhere. He accused Bhagwat of making statements based on political convenience.
Criticism of Baba Saheb’s statement
Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand also criticized Union Minister Amit Shah’s statement in Parliament regarding Baba Saheb BR Ambedkar. Defending Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi, he said the scuffle broke out in the Parliament building over the Union Home Minister’s statement on Ambedkar.
Condemn atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh
He said that more and more people in the country are following Baba Saheb’s ideology and therefore everyone is using his name for politics. Swami Avimukteshwarananda, while condemning the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh, said the central government should take strict action to repatriate Bangladeshis living illegally in India.
Demanding pride in Hindu society
He also criticized the central government for not taking any action against atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. Shankara also demanded an archaeological survey, a list of temples allegedly demolished by invaders in the past, and a re-establishment of pride in the Hindu society. Swami Avi Mukteshwaranand said that many atrocities occurred in Hindu society in the past and religious places of Hindus were destroyed. He said if now the Hindu society wants to revive and preserve its temples, what is wrong with that?
