The Indian cricket team recently toured Sri Lanka, where it played three ODIs and as many T20 matches. India had whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in the T20 series. The Sri Lankan team won the ODI series by 2-0. After the end of the Sri Lanka tour, Indian players have got a break of about 43 days. After the break, the Indian team will play two Test matches and three T20 matches against Bangladesh.

Team India will play 10 test matches

If seen, the Indian team has to play 10 test matches in the next 111 days (3 months and 19 days) from 19th September. Whereas in overall 5 months, apart from 10 Tests, 8 T20 and 3 ODI matches are to be played. After Bangladesh, India has to play three Test matches against New Zealand and five against Australia on its soil.

Currently India is on top in the WTC table

These ten test matches are very important for the Indian team. If India has to reach the final of the World Test Championship (WTC), then it will have to perform brilliantly in these matches. India is currently on top in the WTC points table with 68.52 percent marks. So far, India has 74 points from 9 matches with six wins, two losses and one draw.

Whereas the Australian team is at second place in the WTC table. Kangaroo team has 90 points from 12 matches with 8 wins, three losses and one draw. His marks percentage is 62.50. New Zealand team is at third place in the WTC table. New Zealand has 36 points from 6 matches with three wins and three losses. The marks percentage of Kiwi team is 50.00. After this, Sri Lanka is at fourth position, South Africa is at fifth position and Pakistan is at sixth position. While England is at seventh, Bangladesh is at eighth and West Indies is at ninth.

Let us tell you that this is the third cycle of the World Test Championship, which will run from 2023 to 2025. ICC has already released the rules related to the points system for this third cycle. The team will get 12 points if it wins the test match, 4 points if the match is drawn and 6 points if the match is tied.

On winning the match, 100 percent points will be added, on tie, 50 percent, on draw, 33.33 percent and on defeat, zero percent points will be added. A total of 24 points will be available in a two-match series and 60 points will be available in a five-match series. Since the ranking is primarily determined on the basis of win percentage in the points table.
