“I am not thick-skinned. I don’t care if people call me a thief or a corrupt person,” Kejriwal said, narrating the reasons behind his resignation as chief minister.

Aam Aadmi Party organised ‘Janata Ki Adalat’ programme at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Talking about the programme Arvind Kejriwal said, “April 4, 2011 was the day when Anna anti-corruption movement started. We governed honestly and provided convenience to the public. Free electricity, free water, free buses for women. Free Yatra for old people. Hospitals, mohalla clinics and good schools were built. After ten years of honest work, Narendra Modi started feeling that if he wants to win from them then he should attack honesty. That’s why they levelled corruption charges against us. Our ministers and leaders were selectively put in jail.”

“I am resigning because I am not hungry for the chief ministership,” Arvind Kejriwal said in his speech, referring to his resignation as Delhi chief minister. “I don’t want to make money. We are here to change the politics of the state. I am not a leader and I am not thick-skinned. I feel hurt and sad when people from the BJP call me a thief and a corrupt person. I am here today because I feel pain and sadness in my heart. I will also leave the chief minister’s residence in a few days. Today I don’t even have a house, but I am getting a lot of love from people. Many people from Delhi have sent messages inviting you to stay at my house.”

You cannot sit in a chair of a leader with corruption stains

Arvind Kejriwal said, “If there was corruption, 10 kotis and houses would have been built in 10 years. But it won the love of the masses in 10 years. This case will not end so soon. I don’t know how many more days it will continue. Then I can’t sit on the throne of the chief minister with the stain of corruption. I can’t bear this scar. So, I decided to resign and go to the court. Tell me, people of Delhi here, if I am not honest, can I get free electricity? It takes 3,000 crore rupees to achieve free electricity. If he is not honest, will women bus fare be free? If he is not honest, will he build a school for children? If he is not honest, will he provide free treatment?

Your vote will prove my honesty: Kejriwal

“They have governments in 22 states,” Arvind Kejriwal asked targeting the BJP. “Where is there free electricity or free buses for women? Then who is the thief? Is Kejriwal the thief or those who sent Kejriwal to jail are the thieves? He also asked the public to provide proof of his honesty. He asked the people attending the rally to raise their hands who they think Narendra Modi has hatched a conspiracy against Kejriwal. He said that the upcoming Delhi election is not a normal election. My reputation is at stake. If the people of Delhi feel that Arvind Kejriwal is guilty of corruption, then don’t press the broom button and don’t vote for me. But if you think Kejriwal is honest, then vote for the Aam Aadmi Party. Your every vote will be a proof of my honesty.

Kejriwal and my Ram-Laxman pairing: Sisodia

In his speech, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “People are sad that AK is no longer the chief minister. But people are also happy that Kejriwal has broken the cage of the dictator. In jail I was told that your wife is ill and your son is studying outside. They also seized Rs 10 lakh from my account. My son is studying in college. I had to contact people to pay his fees. Their attempt was to break me. When it could not be broken from outside, then try to break it from inside. Look at their shamelessness, CBI says Manish Sisodia gave Kejriwal’s name. I was told in jail, look, Kejriwal has taken your name, you take his name and you will be saved. I used to tell him that you are trying to separate Lakshman from Ram. No one in the world has the power to separate Lakshman from Ram. I have a 26-year friendship with Arvind Kejriwal. He is my political mentor.

Kejriwal has power to pray publicly: Gopal Rai

Gopal Rai said in his speech, “The slogan of the BJP is that I will neither work nor let it work.” The BJP through the Delhi Local Government tried to stop the work of Delhi and put the AAP minister and the chief minister in jail. But the work of the people of Delhi did not stop. I want to tell the BJP leaders that you have the power of ED and CBI, Arvind Kejriwal has the power of public prayer. Leaders such as Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj, Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak were also present at the Jantar Mantar.

BJP organises Kejriwal and AAP corruption exhibition

Meanwhile, the BJP has asked Kejriwal to protest. The BJP is preparing to siege the Kejriwal government over corruption. The exhibition showed pictures of the Delhi chief officer’s residence where Arvind Kejriwal lives. It read: “Arvind Kejriwal doesn’t want a government building, but a luxury bungalow.” The BJP also showed pictures listing the corruption that took place during the Kejriwal government’s tenure.

Congress leader Sandeep Dixit took a dig at Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘Janata Ki Adalat’. He said, ‘It is a patronage court. It is a TV show. For the next 5-6 months, Arvind Kejriwal will be a permanent resident of Tihar jail.’
