The women safety wing of Telangana Police has detained 285 people within a week for misbehaving with devotees during Khairatabad Bada Ganesh Utsav in Hyderabad, officials said. According to the police, these people, who were caught by SHE teams, were behaving inappropriately in public places and especially indulging in indecent conduct with women. The incident took place during the popular Ganesh festival held in the old city of Hyderabad.
Officials said that these culprits will be produced before the magistrate for further legal action. Officials stressed that such misbehavior will not be tolerated and encouraged the public to immediately report any incident of molestation or harassment. Hyderabad Police has appealed to the citizens to raise their voice against inappropriate behavior and report it immediately.
SHE teams of Telangana Police are constantly patrolling the area to ensure a safe environment for all, officials said. These teams mainly work in small groups to arrest eve-teasers, stalkers and harassers in busy public places.
