This decision has been taken in view of the continuously increasing right-wing riots in the country. Fake news is being held responsible for these riots.
Britain’s Education Minister Bridget Phillipson said that she is reviewing changes in the curriculum of primary and secondary schools. In fact, under the new curriculum, children will be taught to identify online content related to fake news and radical thinking. This will promote critical thinking in children.
Phillipson said that we want to train children to be aware of the accuracy and truthfulness of whatever they see or read online. To help them learn how to differentiate accurate reporting from fabrications.
He said it is more important than ever that we provide young people with the knowledge and skills to be mindful of the content they see online. To protect them from misinformation, fake news and hateful conspiracy theories spread on social media.
