There was a big uproar in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla on Wednesday. A huge crowd had gathered here over the alleged illegal construction of a mosque in Sanjauli area. The crowd became uncontrollable in no time. Hundreds of people started moving towards the mosque. The police resorted to lathi charge to stop them. Water cannon was used. But there was no water in it. However, later water was sprayed from the water cannon. But the police force proved insufficient in front of the crowd. The crowd broke many barricades.

During this, the people involved in the protest broke the barricades. When the police resorted to lathicharge, people sat on the roads. They started shouting slogans. They also targeted the government. Clashes were also seen between the police and the protesters. There are reports of some people getting injured in this.

During this, the people involved in the protest alleged that they wanted to go till Sanjauli Chowk. But the police lathicharged them which is condemnable. Let us tell you that Hindu organizations had sought permission for this protest but they were not given permission. People allege that they cannot wait for permission. They are against illegal construction and will continue the protest.

Meanwhile, a statement by Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s media advisor Naresh Chauhan has come to light. He has said that this is an issue of illegal construction, it should not be linked to the mosque dispute. Let us tell you that Hindu organizations are demanding that the illegal construction of the mosque be demolished. This issue flared up after a fight between the two communities in Malyana yesterday.

Recently, Himachal Pradesh’s Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Aniruddh Singh had made a strong comment on the issue of mosque construction in the assembly. He had said, ‘It has become difficult for women to walk in Sanjauli market. Thefts are happening, incidents like love jihad are taking place, which are dangerous for the state and the country. The mosque has been constructed illegally. First one floor was built, then the rest of the floors were built without permission. A 5-storey mosque has been built. The question to the administration is why the electricity and water supply was not cut for the illegal construction of the mosque?’

What did minister Vikramaditya Singh say?

Minister in the state government Vikramaditya said that everyone has the right to protest peacefully but no such situation should be created which disturbs the peace of the state. We cannot let the law and order of the state deteriorate. The whole matter is in the court. If that place is found to be illegal then action will be taken and it will be demolished as per the law.
